Became a Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club member in December, 1952 (Christmas present for $100). Attended Michigan State University and received a BA in Accounting. Served 3 years in the US Air Force in California. Spent 12 years working as a CPA and manager in private industry. Returned to Engadine in 1977 and purchased Engadine Feed and Supply, Inc. Organized The HSC Foundation, Inc. in 2019 and presently serves as president. |

Teresa SchanskiVice-President
(517) 281-4634 [email protected] Teresa Schanski currently serves as the Vice President of the HSC Foundation, Inc. In her previous thirty year work career she served as an elementary educator. Teresa is also a published Michigan author with four titles to her credit. She has served on several advisory boards including 6 years on the Board of Governors of the Hiawatha Sportsman's Club, also as an officer. Her other non-profit work includes Vice President of the Perry Historical Society in her hometown, where she helps oversee a beautiful century old home/museum. Teresa lives with her husband, David, in Perry, MI. She enjoys a very large family. Her history with the U.P. spans her lifetime and she remains dedicated to her love, service and protection of this very special region in our state. |

Patricia SchieferSecretary/Treasurer
(513) 235-2881 [email protected] Patricia Schiefer is a founding member and currently serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of The HSC Foundation, Inc. She is a native Ohioan and a longtime resident of Loveland, Ohio in the Cincinnati area. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration majoring in accounting at Bowling Green State University. In her professional career she managed accounting at a General Motors metal stamping facility with extensive participation in production planning, cost analysis and budgeting. In the remaining years of employment she was an accountant for a construction and residential property business and also the business manager for an assisted living facility. Patrica has served on numerous boards focusing on children and youth in her community. They consist of Tender Years Preschool, Loveland Schools PTA’s, Kindervelt of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and the Ohio Child Conservation League. She is a long time member of the Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club and is currently serving on the Watershed, Activities, and Future Planning committees and previously served on the Tax, Legal, and Audit and Finance committees. Patricia and her husband Mark are the parents of two daughters with four grandchildren. Her family has enjoyed the Upper of Peninsula of Michigan as part of a family legacy for many years and consider it a second home. Being a part of the community and enjoying the great outdoors is of great importance to her. |

[email protected] My name is John MacFarland. I am a retired teacher and business owner. I am presently serving on the Hiawatha Sportsman’s Board of Governors and also chairman of the Watershed Committee. I am a Trustee of the HSC Foundation Inc. The Foundation has been instrumental in getting grant funding for the Millecoquin Watershed Plan that is helping pay most of the costs submitted by Superior Watershed Partnership to get the watershed plan completed. This is a very important project and we plan to have it completed by next year. The Foundation has also initiated an organization called the Eastern Upper Peninsula Youth Substance Abuse Disorder Initiative because of a significant increase in inappropriate drug use by young people in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. The Foundation is working on getting grant funding to help pay travel costs of parents who need to attend sessions at the Helen Newberry Joy Clinic concerning drug issues with their children. It has also been able to get the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation brochures distributed in the area. These brochures help parents deal with possible drug problems concerning their children. The HSC Foundation is doing great work and I am very proud to be part of it! |
